My Site

Welcome! My name is Todd Beuckens and I am an English teacher (efl / esl) based in Asia. I am currently teaching in Kyuushuu, Japan, but I have also taught in Thailand, Taiwan and in my home city of San Francisco. Besides teaching, I am also currently enrolled in graduate courses in the San Diego State Ed Tech program.

elllo

In addition to teaching and being a student, I also develop web sites for students and teachers of English as a foreign language. Students can access my sites free of charge and all material (except the photos) is creative commons meaning students and teachers can download, print, share, and distribute the material as long as it is used non-commercially for educational purposes. Below is more detailed information about my two current sites and two new ones under construction.

elllo.org

elllo

Started in 2003 as a way to help my students access authentic listenings, elllo, which stands for English Listening Lesson Library Online, is a site with over 1400 listening activities featuring over 200 different speakers from over 80 countries around the world. Most activities include a free downloadable mp3 file, an interactive quiz, as well as supporting multi-media (video, flash, images). The site is updated weekly.

toetal.org

toetal

Still a work in progress, toetal, which stands for tests of English, training and lessons, is a site to help students practice for standardized tests such as the TOEIC test free of charge. Like elllo, the site is free and all material is downloadable can be accessed, downloaded, and distributed without restriction following the creative common guidelines.

thailandbasics.org

thailandbasics

Currently under construction, thailandbasics is a graduate student project aimed at teaching viewers about Thai language, culture, food and travel destinations. The site intends to be a combination language learning / travel site all-in-one.

eteachingtips.com

eteachingtips

Also, currently being developed, eteachingtips will be a site for teachers and students with low to intermediate web development and technology skills, and will offer video tutorials and short articles about various software and technologies applicable for the education field. The site will offer a series of task-based modules for teachers and students around the world on how to make language / travel sites for their area similar to thailandbasics.org.
